And just like that, The Uncanny Counter Season 2 has come to an end. But before we officially say goodbye to the series, let's dive into the ending in this The Uncanny Counter Season 2 recap.

If you watched the show religiously since the first season, you may be familiar with the ending. Seeing all Counters gather once more in what appears to be a suit. Could this be an indication that a third season is coming? We'll also discuss that in this article.

For a moment there, the show almost got us fooled into thinking that all was lost for our favorite Counters.

So Mun (played by Jo Byeong-kyu) entered Ma Joo-seok's (played by Jin Seon-kyu) body to fight against his nemesis, Hwang Pil-kwang (played by Kang Ki-young).

But since this was a battle from his consciousness, he had to leave behind his physical body unprotected. This was what the other Counters promised to do.

While Mun fought off Pil-kwang's evil spirit, the other Counters were battling against Joo-seok's body, which was being controlled by Pil-kwang too.

As Mun tried desperately to call out for his hero, he struggled since Pil-kwang proved to be getting stronger than ever. This got all of the Counters in trouble, including Mun, whom Pil-kwang had already started to strangle in the black tar lake of Joo-seok's consciousness and in the physical realm.

As things were turning bleak, a teardrop managed to escape from Mun's eye and fall into the lake. This created a powerful blast of brightness that came from Joo-seok. It threw Pil-kwang off and gave Mun the chance to summon the evil spirit from within.

This also gave Joo-seok full control of his body, and sacrificed himself to an exposed pipe, which weakened Pil-kwang.

Together, Joo-seok and Mun beat Pil-kwang and freed up the firefighter's body from the evil spirit. The other Counters were able to gain consciousness again and stop the building from self-destructing.

At Yung, Pil-kwang gave us quite a scare when he asked: "Is this where your power comes from?" But Wi-Gen (played by Moon Sook) proved to be more powerful than him by sending him back to hell.

Pil-kwang's departing words, however, continue to haunt us:

"Forever? Do you really think so? Doesn't the fact that there's a door mean that I can always come back?"

He says this before voluntarily jumping into the fiery door behind him. Could he be back in the third season?

What Happened to Joo-Seok?

Before sending Pil-kwang back to hell, Mun and Joo-seok were able to talk in the latter's consciousness. After sacrificing himself to protect Mun and the Counters from Pil-kwang, Joo-seok seemed to accept his fate.

Of course, this was not what Mun wanted. He convinces Joo-seok to "stay strong and live." The two friends wake up together, and Joo-seok's memories from the time he got possessed are erased.

While it is undeniable that Joo-seok will go to prison for the two murders he committed, Ga Mo-tack (played by Yoo Jun-sang) says that his crimes "could be mitigated" after Pil-kwang's involvement gets exposed.

Before returning to prison, Joo-seok sees his mother waiting for him on the road. Mun accompanies her. His heart warms up to his mother, who seems well after he almost killed her.

Later, Mun pays a visit to his friend in prison and tells him that Chairman Choi (played by Ahn Suk-hwan) wants to find an attorney for him. Joo-seok tries to decline the offer, but Mun says the interested attorneys all feel bad for him and want to help him.

Since Joo-seok's case will take a while, Mun promises that he will always be there for his friend.

Mun is able to convince Wi-gen to allow Joo-seok to see his deceased wife, Lee Min-ji (played by Hong Ji-hee), in his dreams. She encourages him to keep living and to think of her in the difficult times.

This finally gives Joo-seok the peace he needs with his wife's untimely demise.

Why Was Mun Sent on a Trip?

While in Yung, Wi-gen spoke to Mun about a new mission. They discovered that anyone has the ability to be possessed by an evil spirit without necessarily killing someone first.

This was what happened to Joo-seok. It broke all the rules, which was something they didn't want to happen again.

Adding to this, was that Joo-seok proved to be one of the strongest enemies the Counters had to face. He also had a lot of powers that were unusual for a Level One evil spirit.

After dealing with this case, Wi-gen sent Mun to train the other Counters from different parts of the world. This way, they'll be able to know how to deal with an evil spirit in the same case.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 ending did not really show us which countries Mun went to. But it did show us that after six months, he met a cafe owner in Germany who spoke about her mother.

As it turned out, this cafe owner, named Jade (played by Angelina Danilova), was the daughter of Wi-gen. Mun helps the two see each other again.

The next scene cuts to the group rushing off to summon a new evil spirit. This time around, the group isn't wearing their trademark tracksuits. They are all suited up.

This makes some people wonder if this is the new uniform that the group has for an upcoming season. But as we witnessed in the finale of Season 1, the Counters also wore the same suits yet the suits were nowhere seen in this season.

Hopefully, the next season will explain the reason behind the suits.

Does Mun and Ha-Na Finally Become a Couple in the Ending?

So, here's some bad news to the avid fans expecting Mun and Ha-na to finally come clean about their feelings for one another.

Throughout this whole season, the writers of the show made it look like Ha-na and Mun appreciated each other's company and treated them like siblings. This is contrary to how the two were portrayed in the first season of the show.

But for Ha-na and Mun shippers, this may be a disappointment, especially since Ha-na also seems to be entertaining Do-hwi again.

We've got an entire article explaining this so you better head there to know if Mun and Ha-na become a couple at all.
