Last week saw a rumor surfaced claiming that The New Mutants' Alice Braga will play the role of Poison Ivy in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Some fans quickly started to get behind it and discussed the casting on social media. However, the director debunked the rumors as he slammed rumor-spreading websites.

The rumor prompted Gunn to weigh in on the story since some fans were excited about the alleged casting. "We are," the director said, responding to a fan's question on Twitter. "And it's not true. It's BS like most stuff off this particular site."

When asked about what he does when he comes across a rumor that is true, Gunn points out that he ignores most rumors, whether they are true or false. "But in the case of sites that constantly print BS I occasionally call them out," he added.

As exciting as it is too see Poison Ivy cross paths with Harley Quinn, her absence in both the recent Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) as well as the upcoming The Suicide Squad movie suggests that Warner Bros. is yet to have plans for Poison Ivy to appear on the big screen for the time being.

The Suicide Squad is currently set for release on August 6, 2021.
