The Sandman Star Joins Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania might be premiering in theaters this week, but some fans have their eyes set on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will arrive three months from now, especially if there’s some information that a new actor from a Netflix hit series has joined the MCU’s loving guardians.

In a now-deleted tweet, Asim Chaudhry posted an image of the latest Vol. 3 posters and the teasing message, “I'm entering the MCU! Find out how on 5/5/23,” citing the date that the film will hit theaters. The actor added a wink emoji and the hashtag #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3.

Chaudhry portrayed Abel, the Biblical son of Adam and Eve, in Netflix's hit adaptation of Neil Gaiman's iconic dark fantasy comic, The Sandman. He lives in the Dreaming with his brother Cain (Sanjeev Bhaskar), the two of them constantly telling the story of the world's first murder while serving the Dream King. As the victim, Abel has a nervous but gentle demeanor.

The Sandman gathered massive viewership and was renewed for a second season. Despite Cain and Abel being recurring characters throughout the source comic, Chaudhry stated in December 2022 that he didn't yet know if he would be reprising the role, which probably opens more room for the actor to assume roles from other franchises.

Chaudhry made no mention of the character he'll be playing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but he will be in good company because the third and final installment of the Guardians will see regulars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff's endearing bond and onscreen chemistry one last time. GotG Vol. 3 will also feature new MCU characters.

Daniela Melchior's character made her first appearance in the latest trailer, and director James Gunn gave the name "Blurp" to a small furry alien. Some speculate that Chaudhry's mystery role could come in Blurp's voice. Vol. 3 will also introduce Lylla, a cybernetically modified otter with ties to Rocket Raccoon.
