The Sandman Showrunner Says Morpheus' Son Could Appear in Season 2

There is little doubt that The Sandman already teased some of the future stories that will be told if the series gets renewed by Netflix. One of the major teases had been the mention of Morpheus' son in the bonus episode A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope.

So will we get to meet Orpheus in the future? Showrunner Allan Heinberg has confirmed that they are planning to bring in Dream's child and they already have someone in mind to play the character in The Sandman Season 2!

In A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope, the titular muse calls on Morpheus to help free her from the author Ric Madoc who had imprisoned her to access her ability to provide inspiration. Calliope is initially wary of calling on her former husband after their painful breakup that was brought about by the death of their son.

Not surprisingly, showrunner Allan Heinberg confirms that he and Neil Gaiman are already planning to introduce Orpheus in the series if it gets a second season. In fact, Heinberg already has an actor in mind to play the character.

"I don't know if I'm allowed to say it, but we've talked about someone that we feel very strongly about," Heinberg told Variety. "And we have had those conversations and if we get a second season, we would love to be able to cast that person. We are conceiving of the whole season with this person in mind."

This is exciting news considering that people are already looking forward to The Sandman Season 2. Hopefully, Netflix will soon announce the show's renewal. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
