Dwayne ‘The Rock' Johnson is set to star in his own film Black Adam, and though the movie is a spinoff to Shazam!, it's been confirmed that other DC characters will be introduced like Doctor Fate and the JSA. What's cool is, we have confirmation of one more character.
According to Murphy's Multiverse, Hawkgirl will also be introduced in the upcoming Black Adam film. We don't have any details about the part, but it's likely that she will be closely tied to another JSA member, Hawkman.
Seeing that Adam once ruled over Egypt in the comics, it would make sense to introduce other characters tied to Egyptian mythology like Fate and the Hawkpeople. Besides the characters that were announced, the movie is also said to feature other characters like Stargirl and Atom Smasher. My fingers are still crossed that they find a way to make Kevin Hart Mr. Terrific.
With the DCEU slowly coming back on the rise, I can say I'm kind of excited for Black Adam. Hopefully, we have a character that's morally ambiguous, seeing that Adam is primarily a villain in the DCEU. I also kind of want the Rock to play someone other than himself, because ‘funny muscle-bound guy' is almost every character that he's been playing lately, and I'm sure he can try for something else.
Black Adam is set for a release on Dec. 22, 2021. The next DCEU film is Birds of Prey and it's set to hit theaters Feb. 7, 2020.
