The Rise of Skywalker's Naomi Ackie Talks About Her Cancelled Game of Thrones Spinoff

Everyone may be excited to meet Naomi Ackie's Jannah in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but she was also set for an appearance in an upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff—until it was canceled yesterday. Ackie talks a bit about HBO dropping the series, and says she hasn't taken it too hard.

Talking to Metro, Ackie explains that "it's not fully confirmed" for now, but she says, "It's an industry in which things happen, things get put down, I'm just really excited about what is out there for me now. That was a great project, it didn't work out. I'm ready to look for more stuff."

Seeing that Game of Thrones is such a huge property, it's kind of impressive that Ackie was able to land a role in GoT and Star Wars. We don't know what her role in the canceled pilot was, but hopefully, they'll call her back for the officially greenlit spinoff House of the Dragon.

For now, everyone is excited to see what her character Jannah is going to bring to the table in The Rise of Skywalker. We haven't really seen her in action in any of the trailers, but promo shots have her using some futuristic bow. Let's hope it's going to be some kind of alternate version of Chewbacca's bowcaster—just like the one Chirrut uses in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Catch Ackie in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which is set to come out on Dec. 20.
