The Rise of Skywalker: New Still of the Mysterious Sith Troopers

Lucasfilm may have dropped the final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker already, but we've barely gotten a look at this film's new stormtrooper variant, the Sith Troopers. Thanks to Empire, we have a new image of what is speculated to be members of Palpatine's secret army.

We don't have many details revealed about this special variant of troopers that's why all we can really do is rely on rumors. It's said that these guys are supposed to be part of a secret Sith Fleet that Palpatine had hidden away during the days of the Empire, and Kylo somehow finds it, activates it, and realizes they won't work for him.

This is just my own speculation, but I have a guess that the Sith troopers are actually a clone army. But instead of Jango Fett being their genetic template, Palpatine decided to clone them off of his most effective soldier—Anakin Skywalker. They don't have to be Force-sensitive, but an entire army of Darth Vaders should be reason enough to have the First Order and Resistance come together to face a bigger threat.

Again, it's just my guess, but imagine the collective gasp of the audience when a trooper takes its helmet off and we look into a broken Hayden Christensen's face. It would be a whole new tragedy to the story of Anakin, and I think it would be a fantastic reveal.

Then again, I'm not the filmmaker here. I just hope J.J. Abrams and Chris Terrio have something phenomenal planned for the end of the Skywalker Saga.

Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters Dec. 20.
