The Rise of Skywalker Expected to be the Leggiest Star Wars Movie

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be the last entry in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, and many expect Episode IX to be one of the most successful films of the year.

Not only do industry analysts predict The Rise of Skywalker to rake in between $180 million to $200 million during its three-day opening weekend, but according to Forbes, pre-release tracking for the film suggests that Episode IX is going to be one of the leggiest entries in the Star Wars franchise.

Forbes senior contributor Scott Mendelson takes note of the film's filming schedule, writing that The Rise of skywalker is going to have an opening weekend that's going to "lead directly into two weeks of weekdays that will play like weekends."

Unlike Star Wars: The Last Jedi which opened in a year where a mid-December release didn't directly lead to a holiday break period, Episode IX has the advantage of not having a "normal" weekday until January 6, the 18th day of the film's domestic play.

Because of these odds, Forbes suggests that The Rise of Skywalker is going to end up a whole lot leggier than other films in the Star Wars

Not only that, but Episode IX also has the advantage of being the last entry in the entire Skywalker saga. Star Wars fans aren't going to miss a movie that's going to mark the end of the Skywalker story. Not a chance in the world.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
