Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker saw the return of several fan-favorite characters from the original trilogy. While there were many unforgettable parts in the film, perhaps the one that director J.J. Abrams was most excited for is the return of Wicket the Ewok.

"Oh my God. He was like a little child," Warwick Davis told ComicBook about the director's reaction. Davis reprised his role as the adorable creature from Return of the Jedi. "I couldn't see much, because it's hard to see out of an Ewok costume because the eyes are misted up. But he was just so, so excited."

"And this was his idea to do this, and he relished every moment of it," Davis continued. "And his gratefulness to me doing it. I was like, 'You don't have to be thankful. I just love doing it. Thanks for asking me.' And, yeah. It was absolutely, absolutely brilliant."

Davis says Abrams is "such a lovely guy" and that there aren't many people in the world who are as lovely as him. He says Abrams' energy and enthusiasm for Star Wars is "infectious", and while they "didn't all love it enough working on it," Davis says Abrams being there made it "absolutely brilliant."

Towards the end of Episode IX, Wicket was seen at the forest moon of Endor with another Ewok beside him. As it turns out, this was the character's son named Pommet, who was also played by Davis' real-life son named Harrison.

"Harrison, he was always slightly disappointed, though he never would say, that he'd never managed to get into a Star Wars movie," Davis said. "But right here and now, he managed to get into that galaxy far, far away." Davis also hopes that this won't be his son's last opportunity to be included in the beloved universe.
