The Rings of Power Showrunner Confirms Cirdan is Coming in Season 2

It looks like another important character is confirmed to show up in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2. Co-showrunner Patrick McKay has just revealed their plans for introducing Cirdan into the series.

Patrick McKay recently spoke to Deadline where he confirmed that Cirdan is part of their plans for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Cirdan will be a part of the adventure moving forward in Season 2,” he said. “We’ve cast a wonderful actor to play him that we will announce at some future date.”

This is great news considering that Cirdan plays an important role in the creation of the Rings, or rather, he was one of those who was opposed to them in the first place. The Sindar elf was against the Rings of Power but his word was mostly unheeded. Still, he would end up in possession of one of the Three Rings that were forged in the first season.

So what else can we expect in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power? McKay goes on to confirm that there will be more canonical characters showing up in the succeeding seasons.

“Part of the fun of telling a story in Middle-earth is that there’s all these wonderful canon characters that you’ve met Season 1 and then there are additional canon characters that we will get to in future seasons,” McKay said. “If you know the lore, you know, anybody is fair game who might have been a part of the world at this time.”

For now, we can only confirm Cirdan's arrival in the second season. Hopefully, we'll get more updates in the next few weeks.
