Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' partnership has been shrouded in mystery for months now especially after several reports claimed that Spider-Man: No Way Home will officially mark the end of the studios' colossal collaboration which began in 2016. Now, with the success of the latest Spidey film, we can now safely say that the union between Marvel and Sony will continue for more years to come.

Speaking of Sony, while Marvel Studios' plate is full at the moment with the entire multiverse arc, the official home of the Spider-Man film franchise is still adamant about making its own shared universe. In fact, several projects are still lined up under the Sony banner including a Black Cat film which is rumored to feature an actress who was previously part of Fox's now-defunct X-Men franchise.

According to a scoop from Giant Freakin Robot, Sony is eyeing The Queen's Gambit actress Anya Taylor-Joy for the role. Anya is no longer a stranger to the Marvel world after starring in the divisive 2020 film New Mutants as Magik. As it stands, the specifics regarding her rumored casting have not been disclosed.

Felicity Jones, the actress who played Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 previously expressed her desire to reprise the role but with the latest rumors surrounding Taylor-Joy's alleged casting, it's hard to tell what happens next. Personally, I don't see Anya as Black Cat-material but if the studio really wants her for the role, there's really nothing we can do about that.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home is shattering box office records worldwide.
