The Punisher Season 2 Villain Finally Revealed As Alt-Right Christian Fundamentalist

Fans have been wondering if Billy Russo will ultimately take on the Jigsaw moniker and appear as the main villain in The Punisher Season 2. However, it looks like Frank Castle will be facing a completely different baddie next year.

According to Collider, a new villain will be making the rounds in The Punisher Season 2. The new character is named John Pilgrim and he will be played by Insidious: The Last Key star Josh Stewart. Interestingly, Stewart has an interesting description of Pilgrim.

"On the exterior, he's a man who is a Christian Fundamentalist who had a rage, a violent side of him," Stewart said of his character. "It's buried deep. I think where this is all headed, that sort of side of him is going to resurface a bit."

That's not all. Costume designer Lorraine Calvert also describes Pilgrim as "Alt-right," which could mean his goals are fueled by white nationalism.

Pilgrim certainly sounds like a completely different villain compared to Ben Barnes' Russo. The report goes on to explain that Stewart's portrayal of the baddie "gives off an uptight, creeping vibe." Needless to say, we can't wait to meet this new character next year.

Although we are expecting The Punisher Season 2, another Marvel show might not be so lucky. It was previously reported that Netflix is already hinting at the possible cancellation of Jessica Jones in a recent survey. Let's hope that Frank Castle survives the axe and continues on to more seasons.

The Punisher Season 2 will air on Netflix in January 2019.
