Later this month we'll see the release of Rockstar Games' highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption II. And a new gameplay trailer has dropped giving us a look at just how expansive the game's new open world can be.
Here's the official synopsis:
America, 1899.
The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.
After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
The amount of detail in this game looks to be crazy. It's even teased that the main character Arthur's facial hair grows if he doesn't shave regularly. Sure you get to go around planning heists and hunting criminals, but you also get to spend time on more frivolous things like minigames and simple quests.
I think a lot of shooter fans will also love the first-person option that RDR II is offering. Admittedly, I prefer to see my characters as a whole when I play games, but there is a different type of immersion when it comes to FPS.
With Westworld just ending for HBO, it's the perfect time for the release of Red Dead Redemption II to get everyone over their western genre jones.
Red Dead Redemption II comes to Xbox One and PS4 on Oct. 6.
