Disney's expansion of the Star Wars franchise has proven to be vital in keeping the saga alive and well. Not only that, but it also paved the way for more sequel and standalone projects to be explored in the future and that of course includes The Mandalorian and the upcoming Obi-Wan series. The latter will see the triumphant return of Ewan McGregor as the fan-favorite Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and over the course of the prequel trilogy, his name has oftentimes been associated with one character from the franchise, and nope, I'm not talking about Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader.

Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn character is known to be Obi-Wan's one true mentor and the person who walked him through the powers of the Force. Now, with Disney+ doing all sorts of spinoff projects imaginable, the chances of Qui-Gon actually making his return to the franchise are very likely but Neeson himself seems to be skeptical about his character's potential comeback.

He told Collider: "I've done the voice for Qui-Gon Jinn in a couple of the animated versions of it. I can't remember the names of them. Myself and Sam Jackson did our Jedi knights for those. I think I did two of them. But on film, I haven't been approached, no. I haven't really been following them, to be honest. I don't know if they've come to an end. I heard they did a film of Harrison [Ford]'s character, Han Solo, and that there was a bit of trouble with that. What do you think? Are Star Wars fans finished with it?"

It may look like Neeson has accepted the fact that his Star Wars days are behind him but I don't think an offer from Lucasfilm is something the acclaimed actor can refuse. After all, his The Phantom Menace co-star Ewan McGregor ultimately took the bait and is now starring in his own Disney+ series. It would be lovely to see him and Ewan get reunited in the show, to be honest considering the storied history of their characters but that remains to be seen.

Speaking of, the Obi-Wan series is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in 2022.
