After four years, Bae Doona returns to the big screen with a highly anticipated movie, The Next So Hee.
To recall, the award-winning actress last appeared in the 2018 film The Drug King with Song Kang Ho and Hospital Playlist star Jo Jung Suk.
Now, the 42-year-old beauty is set to portray a compelling character after confirming her appearance in the new mystery film.
The Next So Hee: Release Date, Cast and What We Know So Far
Helmed by July Jung, the Next Sohee follows the story of a high school student named Sohee, who was the center of a mysterious incident.
In the upcoming movie, Bae Doona took on the role of detective Yoojin, a keen observer who is determined to crack the case.
As her investigation starts, Yoojin becomes suspicious after finding out bizarre evidence that points to Sohee’s case.
Apart from The Silent Sea star, The Next Sohee cast includes Choi Hee Jin as Lee Bo Ram.
Although the officials are tight-lipped about the other cast members, Zapzee noted that July Jung has recently wrapped up shooting Bae Doona’s new movie.
Bae Doona Reunites with A Girl at My Door Director
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Bae Doona starred in July Jung’s film.
In 2014, the renowned actress headlined the 2014 movie A Girl at My Door, where it won numerous awards, including Baeksang Arts and at the 25th Stockholm International Film Festival.
Moreover, the mystery thriller movie was also invited to the 67th Cannes Film Festival.

The Next Sohee Officially Ends Production
On March 3, The Next Sohee director formally announced that they “finished all filming safely on February 28.”
Moreover, the director also expressed his gratitude to the “staff and actors who all tried their best” until the very end. With this, he promised to do his “best to complete the post-production.”
As for the lead star, the Kingdom actress shared that she had mixed emotions after concluding the movie. Bae Doona explained that she “was so happy and had so much” working with such “great people,” but at the same time felt “sad that the filming has ended.”
While the crime mystery movie is currently in its post-production, viewers could expect that Bae Doona’s new film, The Next Sohee, is set to be released before the end of 2022, as noted by Soompi.
The 42-year-old beauty solidified her career not just in South Korea but globally.
She joins a slew of notable local stars who have made their way in Hollywood like Lee Jung Jae, Youn Yuh Jung, Lee Byung Hun and more.
From Strangers to the hit K-zombie series Kingdom, Bae Doona recently made waves after headlining the star-studded cast of The Silent Sea with Gong Yoo and Lee Joon.
As for her overseas projects, she made her Hollywood debut in the Wachowskis sisters’ movie Cloud Atlas and reunited in two other projects, Jupiter Ascending and Sense8.
