When The New Mutants kept getting delay after delay, many of us were hoping that this long wait would be worth it and the movie would shine through in the end. While it is finally out in theaters for the world to see, the wait may not have been worth it. Granted, people who are interested in watching the movie should see it and hope differently but the Rotten Tomatoes score has been released. And it's not good.
To the disappointment of everyone rooting for this movie, including myself, The New MutantsRotten Tomatoes score is a pretty rotten 29% as of this writing. It's not all doom and gloom as the audience score is a passable but average 56% but that doesn't exactly help things. Once again, fans curious should still check it out if they want but when you consider the current pandemic, maybe think twice.
It really is a shame that the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies won't be going out with a bang but you never know where the winds of fate may take this. Fans who want this film to succeed could always hope for a Venom-style fanbase that will make it enough money for Disney to consider a sequel but, once again, that pandemic is still looming over us.
Perhaps The New Mutants will fare better when it comes to Disney+ or Hulu. Only time will tell, unfortunately, but here's hoping it's not as bad as critics are making it out to be. I mean, there are people who like Batman V Superman so that's something.
