The New Mutants Star Shuts Down Rumors that the Delay was Because of Reshoots

It might have taken The New Mutants a few years before finally coming to cinemas, however, actress Alice Braga says that the film wasn't really bogged down by reshoots and rewrites.

The actress who plays Dr. Cecillia in 20th Century Fox's upcoming X-Men spinoff just recently went on an interview with Screen Rant to talk about The New Mutants. During her discussion with the entertainment news outlet, Braga decided to address rumors that the film had been delayed because of issues with production. A couple of years ago there had been reports that The New Mutants had to undergo lengthy reshoots and rewrites so that the film could be made "scarier."

However, according to Braga, The New Mutants that fans are going to get to see in films this year is the same one that director Josh Boone had planned from the start.

"Josh [Boone] prepared so much, him and [screenwriter Knate Lee], beforehand, about the script and all that, so there's not much rewrites happening," the actress told Screen Rant, "Like, there's more creating the environment on set and the energy on set. The location is so amazing, they shot Shutter Island here, the [Martin] Scorcese film, and you can feel it."

Perhaps the main reason why the film was delayed was because of the merger between Disney and 21st Century Fox. A couple of years ago 21st Century Fox decided to sell its film and television assets, allowing Disney to purchase most of the company. The acquisition delayed The New Mutants release. Good thing that the film is finally clear to debut this year.

The New Mutants is set to premiere on April 3, 2020.
