It's no secret that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is a very busy man with several major projects in the future. However, it looks like he won't be appearing in at least one upcoming blockbuster. Abdul-Mateen has just decided to leave the highly anticipated Mad Max prequel film focusing on Furiosa because of scheduling conflicts.

Deadline confirms that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has departed from the George Miller movie due to scheduling conflicts. For now, the identity of Abdul-Mateen's character in Furiosa has not yet been revealed. However, the role has already been recast. The report also confirms that Tom Burke will replace the Candyman star in the upcoming film.

Abdul-Mateen was confirmed to appear in the Furiosa spin-off movie back in October 2020. The project, which will also star Chris Hemsworth, is set to reveal Furiosa's origins. Although the character was portrayed by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, the prequel will feature a younger version of Furiosa who will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy.

But what is the reason for Abdul-Mateen's departure from the Mad Max prequel? There are speculations that another Matrix movie is already being developed and fans believe it will bring back Morpheus. However, it might be something closer to Abdul-Mateen's heart.

Although it was not revealed what other project he was working on, it is suggested that the Matrix Resurrections star has decided to focus on a passion project that he has been developing for some time now.

He may no longer be in Furiosa but Abdul-Mateen has a lot of major projects to work on. It has been confirmed that he will return as Black Manta in the DC sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. He is also set to play the younger version of Morpheus in The Matrix Resurrections.

The Matrix Resurrections premieres in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, 2021.
