The Matrix Resurrections Clip Brings Back Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus

We have already seen the new Morpheus in the trailers and posters for The Matrix Resurrections. However, it looks like the original Morpheus will show up in the highly anticipated sequel. A new clip from the upcoming film brings back Laurence Fishburne as the hacker who freed Neo in the original film.

The new clip from The Matrix Resurrections was revealed during The Game Awards and it reveals just how much things have changed in the Matrix. The clip opens with Bugs opening the door for Neo and leading him into ... a train. When Neo asks where they are, Bugs confirms they are in Tokyo.

Bugs also explains that a moving portal makes it harder to track, which certainly makes sense. This time, the Operator tells them where the portal is and Neo steps into a room where clips from the first movie are being projected on the walls.

If that's not meta enough for you, the new Morpheus is also in the room and declares, "Set and setting." Bugs explains that since their first contact didn't go so well, they decided to take things from his past to make things easier for him to accept. "Nothing comforts anxiety like a little nostalgia," Morpheus adds.

It's an interesting clip that seems to confirm a lot of new things about The Matrix Resurrections. However, the best thing about it is seeing Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus all over again. Of course, it's all just stock footage but fans are still holding on to hope that Fishburne will show up in the sequel soon.

The Matrix Resurrections is directed by Lana Wachowski and stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, and more. The film will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, 2021.
