The Matrix 4: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Begins Training for Sequel in New Video

It looks like The Matrix 4 is well on its way to begin production soon. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who will star in the highly anticipated sequel, has just confirmed that he is currently working out in preparation for his new project.

Abdul-Mateen shared a video on his official Instagram account which shows the Aquaman actor in the gym. Check it out below.

"Back at it. Matrix Mode WOAH!" Abdul-Mateen wrote. Needless to say, it looks like the Watchmen star will be jacked for the movie.

For now, we don't know much about The Matrix 4. However, Abdul-Mateen had admitted that he is already looking forward to working on the film.

"I would love to talk about The Matrix!" he said. "But I'm very excited to do it. A great team and I think there's going to be a lot of … it's a very exciting relevant script that I'm honored to be a part of."

Although Abdul-Mateen's role in The Matrix 4 has not yet been officially confirmed, there have been several reports suggesting that he will portray a young Morpheus in the film. This sounds like an interesting idea considering that both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity. Could this mean that we'll be getting Morpheus' origin story? Perhaps we'll find out later this year.

The Matrix 4 is expected to begin production in mid-2020 and is scheduled for release on May 21, 2021.
