It has been a long time since we got any updates on The Matrix 4. However, it looks like the highly anticipated sequel just got added another major star. Sleepy Hollow actress Christina Ricci has been confirmed for a mystery role as the full cast was revealed.
Ricci's casting was revealed in an updated press kit from Warner Bros. that also lists all the names of the actors involved in The Matrix 4. Interestingly, Ricci's role was undisclosed. However, this shouldn't be a surprise considering that we don't know which roles the rest of the new cast members will be playing.
We're loving the idea that Ricci will now be part of the Matrix Universe. It's also awesome to know that she will collaborate with Lana Wachowski yet again, who she worked with on the 2008 live-action adaptation of Speed Racer.
In addition to Ricci, the new cast members of The Matrix 4 include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Eréndira Ibarra, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, Brian J. Smith, and Ellen Hollman. Their roles are all still undisclosed.
The Matrix 4 will bring back Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie Ann-Moss as Trinity, Jada Pinkett-Smith as Niobe, Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson, and Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian. The premise of the sequel is still unknown. However, we could learn more once the first trailer is released. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
The Matrix 4 has not yet been given an official title. Nevertheless, the sequel is already scheduled for release on December 22, 2021.
