The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Spinoff: Alex Borstein Discusses Possible Continuation of Character’s Own Story

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Episode 7 ended with an open story that could potentially result in a new spinoff. As Susie (Alex Borstein) and Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) have become estranged from each other in the future after being the closest of friends, it seems to hint that Susie can have her own show to tell her story.

Borstein addressed the possible coming of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel spinoff when the last and final season ended. However, it looks like it all depends on the show's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino's plans.

If Borstein can have her way, she will surely want to continue playing Susie, but it all depends on Sherman-Palladino if she still has a story to tell.

"Whatever ['Mrs. Maisel' creator] Amy Sherman-Palladino wants to do — and if I am invited to the party — I am there," she said in an interview with The Wrap.

"I'm there early and will be the last guest to leave. I really, I just feel very safe, and I really trust her," she continued. "She creates these universes that consistently expand, and I don't know how she does it."

The 52-year-old added that fans couldn't get bored of the show's story because it was "constantly expanding and changing."

"Like the universe, there's enough dark matter to keep you surprised and wondering and explore and yeah," she added. "If Amy Sherman-Palladino were to say, 'let's explore Susie more,' I would absolutely trust her that there's something worth telling."

Amy Sherman-Palladino's Plans for a Spinoff

Though Sherman-Palladino is fond of the idea of having The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel spinoff, she doesn't want to overstay the show's welcome, and it's even too early to think of a follow-up, per Screen Rant.

With two more episodes left, it remains to be seen what the franchise's future will be.

Sure, a spinoff about Susy can work, especially if it focuses on her story and estrangement from Midge, with occasional guest appearances from Brosnahan and other characters.
