Comedian Bill Burr might have the once in a lifetime opportunity to become part of Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away, but it looks like the Star Wars: The Mandalorian Star just can't help but make fun of the Star Wars fanbase.
Speaking on The Riche Eisen Show, Burr opened up about his stint in Jon Favreau's upcoming Star Wars live-action series, explaining that while he decided to accept a role in The Mandalorian, the Star Wars franchise just really wasn't his brand of science fiction.
"This is the thing, I've never been a sci-fi...I like Blade Runner, there was a movie Sam Rockwell did called 'Moon,' I like that sort of dark, creepy, Stanley Kubrick [2001: A Space Odyssey], I like that, I was never into the Star Wars thing," Burr shared during his interview with Eisen.
According to the F is For Family voice actor, he'd gotten into Star Wars late in life, and because he missed out on the hype, he'd make fun of every film that would come out. He loved teasing the Star Wars fans because he'd see them overly excited about the films.
"By the time I saw it, I was just too old, they had like Ewoks and stuff, and I wanted to see Fast Times at Ridgemont High," the comedian explained, "I missed the boat so I never got on it and I've religiously made fun of every one of them that came out. Just teasing, just because people are excited. I'm a jerk, I see people get excited about something and I just make fun of it."
It might come as a surprise seeing Burr in The Mandalorian. Apparently, the comedian only joined the series because Jon Favreau had convinced him that it would be funny to join the franchise, saying that fans would probably get a kick out of Burr playing a role in a Star Wars series. It also helped that Favreau's show seemed a whole lot different from what the Star Wars franchise usually offers.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian debuts on Disney+ on November 12, 2019.
