The Mandalorian Star Pedro Pascal Details Grogu's Emotional Season 2 Farewell

The Mandalorian pretty much cemented the fact that Mando is willing to do everything in his power to ensure the safety and well-being of Grogu aka The Child.

It was simply amazing to see his transformation from a ruthless mercenary to someone who's actually capable of showing love, affection, and compassion for other beings.

Now, over a month since Season 2 closed out, actor Pedro Pascal is sharing details about THAT epic finale which saw the return of Luke Skywalker. The episode, titled "The Rescue" also saw the emotional farewell between Mando and his trusty companion as he entrusted Grogu to Skywalker in hopes of the Jedi master teaching Baby Yoda the true ways to the Force.

In a recent conversation with IndieWire, Pascal explains the importance of the said episode and the impact it made not only on fans but also on him. He said: "The entire idea of getting to inhabit somebody who, since they were a child, no human has seen their face, it was almost impossible to imagine the level of nakedness and exposure, the overwhelming paralysis."

He added: "It can't happen, but it's a mission and the child has to be saved. It was a super-exciting dance of profound, incredible restraint and total exposure. I can count on my one hand the lines the character had. On the other hand, he's desperately trying to hide in a room without a mask with his face exposed. It was cool and it was strange."

As for his tearjerking moment he shared with Baby Yoda, Pascal had this to say: "At that point, I knew what it would mean for everyone to experience that kind of threshold between the character and the child," he said. "We follow this story for two seasons; there's this bond that grows between the two of them. He tries to not let himself soften, but he cannot help himself. This practical story logic brought something else about that moment, what it would mean to touch his face."

We still don't know what the future holds for Grogu now that he's been separated from his "space dad" but one thing's for sure, Baby Yoda and Mando will eventually cross paths once again.

Whether it happens in Season 3 or not, we're not quite sure and It'll be interesting to see what state the Force-wielding creature will be in when they meet again.
