A lot of Star Wars fans have been looking forward to seeing the third season of The Mandalorian, especially after what was set up at the end of The Book of Boba Fett and it's been more than a year since the second season aired. Recently, Giancarlo Esposito claimed that the upcoming season is set to premiere this coming summer. However, as it turns out, that is not actually the case.

Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub clarified on Twitter that the third season of The Mandalorian will actually premiere by the end of the year, not this summer. The third season also just recently wrapped and the post-production process usually takes a lot of time so a summer turnaround sounds very unlikely at this point.

It also makes more sense that the third season of The Mandalorian will premiere by the end of the year since it would be enough time for the post-production to finish and the previous seasons also premiered around the end of the year which would keep up with the tradition.

You also have to consider the fact that Disney+ and Lucasfilm have Andor on their upcoming slate which already finished production a while ago and there have also been rumors that it is set to premiere this late summer. Assuming that it's what will end up happening, there is a stronger case to argue that the third season of The Mandalorian will premiere as early as the end of the year.

Esposito might have just made a mistake or had confusion on his part which is why he said that the season will air this summer. Of course, we will never know the true answer until either during the Star Wars Celebration event or a few months later when Disney+ and Lucasfilm finally make an official announcement regarding Din Djarin and Grogu's next chapter in the galaxy far, far away.
