It goes without saying that The Mandalorian helped bring credibility back to the Star Wars franchise which has had its fair share of critics since Disney acquired it a full decade ago. With two successful seasons under its belt, expectations are naturally high for Season 3 which is going to pick up where Season 2's jaw-dropping finale left off. However, a new rumor suggests that Lucasfilm is having issues with filming which could potentially affect the show's chances of hitting Disney+ later this year.

According to the good folks over at Bespin Bulletin, filming for The Mandalorian Season 3 which takes place in Los Angeles has been put on hold due to the rising COVID-19 cases brought upon by the Omicron variant. The report states that no one from the show's crew has tested positive for the virus and it's all just a precautionary step on Lucasfilm's part to ensure everyone's safety.

As it stands, we still don't know when filming resumes. Even the current production progress for Season 3 has been kept under wraps but with the Omicron variant posing a huge threat to the world, I don't expect cameras to resume rolling for The Mandalorian's third season anytime soon. It'll be interesting to see how this latest delay will affect the chances of the show retaining its expected release date in the latter part of the year.

The Mandalorian Season 3 began production last October.
