The Mandalorian Season 2 to Start Shooting in October

Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian hasn't even come out yet, and Disney had already greenlit the show for a second season. What's shocking though, is that the Season 2 is going to start shooting sooner than you think.

According to Discussing Film, the second season of The Mandalorian is set to start shooting Oct. 7 with returning director Rick Famuyiwa attached to direct an ‘"undisclosed amount of episodes." Famuyiwa had directed two episodes for the first season and was even asked to helm some episode for Cassian Andor. It's believed that he passed on Andor so he could keep working with Jon Favreau on The Mandalorian.

Famuyiwa is only one of a long line of esteemed directors who have been attached to the first season of the show. Other directors include the likes of Deborah Chow, Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, and Bryce Dallas Howard. We don't know which other directors were asked to come back, but DF guesses that it's unlikely for Waititi to return since he'll be working on Next Goal Wins then Thor: Love and Thunder for Marvel.

Though The Mandalorian has been shrouded in a lot of mystery, we're expecting a big global reveal to take place during the D23 Expo this weekend. The show promises to be one of the main hooks for Disney+, and it will definitely set the tone for future Star Wars series—much like how Iron Man kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The trailer for The Mandalorian is expected to debut this Friday. The show launches alongside Disney+ on Nov. 12.
