It's no longer shocking how Star Wars fans are still buzzing about Luke Skywalker's jaw-dropping return in The Mandalorian Season 2 because if we're being honest, it's easily one of the best TV moments in recent memory. But did you know that Mark Hamill's grand return to the galaxy far, far away almost didn't happen? In the latest Disney Gallery episode which focuses on the actor's much-talked-about cameo, Hamill revealed that he had his reservations about taking on the project.

A few things convinced him that it was the right call, including The Mandalorian's use of a de-aging technology similar to what the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been utilizing for a decade but Hamill admitted that Grogu aka Baby Yoda was a major influence in him making his Star Wars comeback.

Apparently, the acting legend was quite adamant about sharing the screen with The Child which of course isn't all that surprising considering the lovable animatronic has been the de facto face of the MandoVerse (Sorry, Pedro Pascal). Now, following the premiere of the latest Disney Gallery episode, Chapter 16's director Peyton Reed took to social media to reveal a never-before-scene image of Hamill with Baby Yoda.

In a tweet, the Ant-Man director took the time to extend his gratitude to Hamill for agreeing to make Luke's cameo a possibility. He wrote: "Thanks again, @HamillHimself, for an unforgettable experience." Check out the awesome image here.

It's safe to assume that Hamill's return in The Mandalorian was just a one-off appearance and while it's almost a guarantee that we'll see the Jedi Master again, I'm pretty sure Lucasfilm will recast the character. The real question is, is there any other actor besides Mark who can pull off Luke Skywalker? Probably not but we know someone from the Marvel Universe who might come close. *wink wink*

Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to begin production this September.
