It's no secret that the latest episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 was loaded with Star Wars references. But did you also notice an Apollo 13 Easter Egg? Bryce Dallas Howard has confirmed that she actually paid tribute to her father Ron Howard's film.
Early on in Chapter 11: The Heiress, there is a shot of Mando taking the Razor Crest into Trask's atmosphere and one fan noted that it looked very familiar. They posted the scene alongside the re-entry sequence in Apollo 13 and Howard was quick to admit it was a little tribute to her father. Take a look at her tweet below.
We're loving the idea that Howard saw her chance to pay homage to her father's work and immediately took it. Needless to say, it made for a stunning shot that will be remembered by Star Wars fans.
Chapter 11 is the second episode that Howard has directed for The Mandalorian. Interestingly, she previously worked on Chapter 5: Sanctuary which introduced Gina Carano's Cara Dune into the series. In her new episode, Howard had the honor of introducing the live-action version of Bo-Katan Kryze played by Katee Sackhoff into the show.
For now, it is unclear if Howard will return to work on yet another episode of The Mandalorian for the third season. However, it wouldn't be a surprise if it is announced that she will once again helm a new chapter of the Star Wars series.
The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 3 is currently available for streaming on Disney+.
