Star Wars fans have eagerly been anticipating the arrival of Taika Waititi's Star Wars project since its announcement in late 2020. However, as it stands, it looks like we might have to wait a little longer before seeing Waititi's big-screen directorial debut in a galaxy far, far away.

These days, the actor-director is busy promoting Pixar's Toy Story spinoff film Lightyear, as well as the upcoming fourth Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder. Well, it turns out that despite his Star Wars flick not getting released any time soon, Waititi will be rejoining a beloved series for its highly-anticipated third season.

According to SlashFilm the ever-so-busy director is once again joining the MandoVerse before working on his much-awaited Star Wars film. The entertainment website pretty much leaked that Waititi "starred" in upcoming episodes of The Mandalorian Season 3.

He also directed one episode of the hit Disney+ series. If you may recall, Waititi actually voiced the beloved character IG-11 in Season 1 and even directed the acclaimed finale episode of the spinoff show.

We all know that Taika is known for injecting a lot of fun and humor into his projects but Episode 8 showed a completely different side of the director, focusing more on the action and showing a lot of heart. Now, the question is, will we actually see the "trademark" tone he established in the Thor franchise in Season 3 of The Mandalorian?

The Mandalorian's third season is expected to hit Disney+ in February 2023.
