The Mandalorian: Jon Favreau Wants to Bring in All 3 Eras of Star Wars

Star Wars is now being defined by three eras namely the Age of the Republic (Prequels), Age of Rebellion (Original Trilogy), and Age of Resistance (Sequels). With The Mandalorian though, showrunner Jon Favreau says he's aiming to bring together all three eras.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Favreau was asked about the possibility of incoming Legends characters like Thrawn or Mara Jade, and he replied:

"I don't want to talk about anything that might be fun for people to discover. We do have conversations. Part of what's fun to see if we could merge the worlds of the original trilogy, the prequels, the sequels, The Clones Wars, and what's been considered canon up to this point and what's been considered part of Legends. I think this show offers an opportunity to bring in all those elements so no matter what your flavor of Star Wars ice cream you like there will be something to enjoy. But you're asking the right questions."

With The Mandalorian taking place a few years after the events of The Return of the Jedi, the era that its closest to is definitely the OT. It's said that there will be hints at the rise of the First Order though, and I'm sure a lot of fans would like to see some nods to the Prequels, maybe the Republic, or battle droids. I'm sure Favreau and Dave Filoni have come up with something that will please everyone.

A lot of hype is building up for The Mandalorian, and I'm hoping it ends up with quality just as good as the films. This will set the bar for other shows like Cassian Andor and Kenobi, and fingers crossed we get a return of Alden Ehrenreich in a Solo follow-up.

The Mandalorian is set to launch alongside Disney+ on Nov. 12.
