Warning: If you haven't seen Chapter 22 of The Mandalorian, this article contains MAJOR SPOILERS so read at your own risk!

The third season of The Mandalorian has featured several callbacks to the prequel trilogy — from the Star Wars franchise's return to the historic planet of Coruscant to Grogu recounting his horrific Order 66 experience. This seems to be a recurring trend as the latest episode made another reference to one of the prequels' most notorious baddies.

Titled "Guns for Hire", Chapter 22 is centered on Din Djarin, Grogu, and Bo-Katan's adventure in Plazir-15. Apparently, Bo-Katan's former Mandalorian allies aka the Nite Owls now reside on the planet, operating as mercenaries for its rulers the Duchess and Captain Bombardier. Apparently, Plazir has been dealing with a "droid problem" and Mando and Bo-Katan are tasked to get to the bottom of it in exchange for them being allowed to make contact with the Mandalorian privateers.

We then get introduced to Christopher Lloyd's character named Commissioner Helgait who's in charge of Plazir's security. Later in the episode, it was revealed that Helgait actually orchestrated the droids' malfunction in an attempt to overthrow the planet's rulers who wanted to replace the droids with humans.

When Din and Bo-Katan learn that Helgait is behind the faulty droids, they head back to his headquarters to confront him. He would then reveal himself to be a Separatist and even referenced Count Dooku, calling him a visionary who was cut short in his prime by the Jedi. Unfortunately, Helgait wasn't given a chance to tell his story because Bo-Katan hilariously nerfed him.

Of course, longtime fans of the franchise know Count Dooku as the leader of The Confederacy of Independent Systems, also known as the Separatist Alliance. While the reference shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, it's still astonishing how Dooku remains an influential figure years after his death at the hands of Anakin Skywalker.

The latest episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 is now streaming on Disney+.
