Warning: if you haven't seen The Mandalorian Season 2's new episode yet, this news contains major spoilers so read at your own risk!
It's been a huge mystery to a lot of Star Wars fans as to why The Mandalorian's main baddie Moff Gideon has been interested in gaining possession of The Child aka Baby Yoda. Several theories have surfaced online dedicated to uncovering Gideon's true plans — from making clones of Baby Yoda to giving himself the ability to use the Force through The Child's genes and while those are exciting assumptions, the show has yet to reveal the real reason behind all of it.
However, The Mandalorian's Chapter 12 may have finally shed some light as to why Gideon has been dying to get his hands on The Child. In one scene from the episode titled "The Siege", Mando and his crew uncovered what looks to be a chamber with some sort of underdeveloped lifeform in it. Later in the sequence, Mythrol discovers a hologram message from Dr. Pershing giving Gideon an update about his "experiment" and while it was unclear what exactly he was talking about, it had something to do with The Child's blood.
Now, it has become more obvious that Moff Gideon and the Galactic Empire want to use Baby Yoda's blood not just to create clones of him, but possibly to bring something else to life. The real question is, what exactly would that be? If they succeed with their devious plans, what could it mean for Baby Yoda? Things are starting to heat up in Season 2 and we better be prepared for what's to come.
The newest episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
