The Last of Us Episode 2 Gives [SPOILER] an Explosive Exit

It's finally time for The Last of Us Episode 2 and the latest chapter of the video game adaptation did not disappoint. Infected changes some key things from the original Naughty Dog title and that includes an explosive end for a beloved character.

In The Last of Us Episode 2, Joel and Tess are understandably wary of Ellie after finding out she is infected. They remain distrustful although the girl didn't turn overnight and is clearly someone important to Marlene and the Fireflies. Tess eventually tries to understand Ellie's importance and the girl confirms that the Fireflies need her as they try to find a cure.

As they continue to make their way to the State House, Tess begins to warm up to Ellie, realizing that the girl is truly immune to the cordyceps infection. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop two Clickers from attacking Ellie as the trio takes a shortcut into a museum.

At first, it looks like they are safe as they arrive at the State House but when Tess discovers that the Fireflies waiting for Ellie have been killed by the Infected, she loses her cool and reveals that she was bitten. When the Infected begin coming for them, Tess urges Joel to bring Ellie to Bill and Frank and chooses to stay behind to make sure the duo isn't followed.

In the game, we don't get to see how Tess dies as it happens offscreen while she shoots at the Clickers. But in the show, she desperately tries to ignite a lighter to use on the gasoline she spilled around the State House. She is then approached by a Clicker who "kisses" her as she successfully blows up the building.
