The general belief amongst fans is that plans for the entire Star Wars sequel trilogy have already been laid out as early as The Force Awakens and when you think about it, it makes absolute sense considering this is a huge geek franchise we're talking about and one would assume that it's only natural for Lucasfilm to lay the groundwork for the direction of the trilogy early on in the game.

If anything, this pretty much confirms and solidifies the argument that Lucasfilm may have been clueless the entire time on how to properly execute the ever-so-polarizing sequel trilogy. It's a shame, really, considering how The Force Awakens showed a tremendous amount of promise. Well, it is what it is and there's really nothing we can do about it, unless of course, Lucasfilm would attempt to erase it from history.

Meanwhile, the entire Skywalker saga is available on Disney+.
