The L Word Star Mia Kirshner Is Playing Spock's Mother In Star Trek: Discovery

With the lead character of Star Trek: Discovery, Michael Burnham, having a close history with Spock, it was only a matter of time before we got to meet Spock's biological human mother Amanda. News has it that Amanda will be appearing in the series, and the show has already cast someone to play her.

According to to TrekMovie.com, The L Word's Mia Kirshner will be playing the role of Amanda Grayson on the show. We still don't know exactly when Kirshner will appear on Discovery, but at least we can expect her to make an appearance at some point—I'm guessing we'll see her pregnant with Spock or accompanying a child Spock.

It was reported before that lead character Burnham's mother is in fact, Amanda Grayson, and that makes her Spock's half-sister. Though it has been said that Burnham is Amanda's adoptive daughter, she also has close relations to Spock's father Sarek.

So far, reviews for the show have been great, and Sonequa Martin-Green has been an excellent charismatic protagonist. Though Commander Burnham's fate may be in trouble for now, I'm going to make a guess and say she'll be the captain of her own ship in one or two seasons.

Star Trek: Discovery is available on CBS All Access.
