With the first two seasons of Westworld taking place within the park, the third season promises to bring us out into the human world. What's interesting is, we have a new featurette giving is a better idea of the intent of showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan when it comes to Season 3.
When it comes to the third season, the main story now looks to be taking place in the human world, and now the hosts have become the āguests' to this modern era. Though it looks like we're also going to get extensions of the park (i.e., the WWII scenes), it seems like the main narrative is going to follow Dolores and her new ālover' in the form of Caleb (Aaron Paul).
Though Wyatt or the Man in Black have come out to be the main antagonists of the past two seasons, the third season will introduce us to Incite, a data company that somehow predicts the life pattern of everyone on the planet. What's funny is, Captain America: The Winter Soldier also presented us with a āProject Insight' and it determined the life path of individuals using data as well; which HYDRA used to pinpoint which individuals they could eliminate based on how they would cause trouble for them in the future.
While some thought that Westworld got kind of boring with the second season, I thought it was really rewarding toward the end. If you haven't finished it, I suggest you start a binge to get ready for the third season.
Catch Westworld Season 3 when it premieres on HBO this March 15.
