The Haunting of Hill House Director Reportedly Eyeing a Clayface Movie for DC

When DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran announced their slate for the new DCU franchise earlier this year, they hinted that the projects that they confirmed were only part of the first phase and there's still more to come that they'll announce in a later time.

Since then, a lot of fans have been wondering about which other projects the DC Studios chiefs have more in mind for the future of the DCU after the first few projects that they announced. Considering that there are thousands of characters in the DC library catalog, the possibilities are certainly endless.

Now, it looks like we may have the word on one of the potential upcoming DCU projects as Deadline revealed in a recent report that The Haunting of Hill House director Mike Flanagan recently pitched a Clayface feature film over at DC Studios as part of the DCU franchise.

However, the project has not been given a green light yet nor a deal has been set yet. The studio has also not said "No" to the director's pitch. Should the project move forward, the character will not be portrayed as a villain, unlike his usual portrayal.

The report also noted that the character is not being pitched to be part of Matt Reeves' The Batman 2 although the sequel's script is constantly changing and might potentially add the character as part of the film.

After the news broke, Flanagan himself took to Twitter to address the speculations regarding the alleged Clayface project where he explained that it is "entirely speculative" at the moment and that he will give an update if the project ends up moving forward.

"Re: CLAYFACE - the news today is entirely speculative. When or if something like that ever becomes real, I promise I'll tell you guys. :)," he wrote in his tweet.

Considering that the status of the project is uncertain at the moment, we should just wait and see for now whether this Clayface movie will end up happening. If it ever does, it will be an exciting proposition for fans given Flanagan's track record as a filmmaker.
