You'd think that those involved with Star Wars would be more sympathetic to Jar Jar Binks than the fans, who have been so brutal to the character that his actor almost committed suicide. That doesn't appear to be the case, as Marvel has decided to cut the Jar Jar Binks story originally slated to be in the Star Wars: Age of Republic Special one-shot.
According to Newsarama, Marvel told retailers that the one-shot would no longer have the Jar Jar Binks story by Chip Zdarsky, which would have involved Binks and a Rancor. Stories from Ethan Sacks, Jodie Houser, and Marc Guggenheim are still part of the comic book so those that just wanted the Mace Windu story will be fine.

No reason was given as to why Zdarsky's story has been cut, though the comic creator has been rather busy as of late. Recently ending his runs on Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man and Marvel Two-in-One, Zdarsky is currently working on a new Invaders series and will take over Daredevil this February. That wasn't the reason given of course so we will have to wait for an official explanation, assuming one comes.
Marvel is planning a 30-part Star Wars epic that goes through the prequel, original, and modern trilogies. They will all be told through one-shots that focus on certain characters in these time periods, with many of us hoping they will turn out well. Expect a lot of love for the original trilogy and a mixed reception for the modern one.
Star Wars: Age of Republic Special #1 comes out in January.
