The Good Doctor Season 5 kicked off with a bang this week. In the premiere episode titled New Beginnings, an internal nemesis was introduced.

Salen Morrison (Rachel Bay Jones) is the newest addition to St. Bonaventure. She is not a doctor, but she purchased the hospital in The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 1, so audiences can expect to see more of her in the upcoming episodes.

But before Salen was revealed to have purchased St. Bonaventure, she first arrived at the hospital to observe and keep tabs on the doctors.

Salen claimed to have been experiencing shortness of breath, blurred vision, and headaches. She also told the doctors that this could be the result of her ADHD medications.

However, it didn't take long before the doctors learned that Salen was testing how competent they were on the job. And to say that she wasn't 100 percent happy is an understatement.

How will Salen's arrival affect Shaun in The Good Doctor Season 5?

Now that the doctors' internal nemesis has been named, fans can expect to see Salen causing problems at St. Bonaventure.

While speaking with TV Line, executive producer David Shore said that Salen will test everybody, including Shaun (Freddie Highmore).

"This tests everybody, including Shaun. Of course, Shaun is going to have a different point of view on it," he said.

Shore also praised Jones for what she has been bringing to the table.

"I just love what [Jones] brings, what this character brings. She just has a great dynamic and great energy. She is just going, going, going," Shore said.

What happened to Shaun and Lea in The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 1?

In the premiere episode, Shaun and Lea (Paige Spara) had an engagement party attended by some of the former's closest colleagues from St. Bonaventure.

The gathering almost went down without a hitch until Glassman (Richard Schiff) revealed that he had been separated from Debbie (Sheila Kelley) for two months.

Shaun and Lea are also busy planning their upcoming wedding. Initially, Lea wanted to be in charge of the wedding planning, but seeing how stressed she was, Shaun offered to help his fiancée out.

However, predictions are that the couple's wedding won't push through in The Good Doctor Season 5. After all, the trailer shows Shaun apologizing to Lea while they are at their wedding.

Will Andrews find love in The Good Doctor Season 5?

Andrews (Hill Harper) just confirmed yet again how big of a player he is. He accidentally invited two women as his dates to Shaun and Lea's engagement party.

When the two women realized that Andrews was playing them, they decided to leave the party together.

Andrews wanted to spend the night with someone, so he randomly asked a bartender out. However, he was rejected.

Now, the big question is whether Andrews will find love in Good Doctor Season 5. After all, he seems ready for a committed relation – or not.

Will Park and Morgan's relationship end in marriage?

The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 1 confirmed that Park (Will Yun Lee) and Morgan's (Fiona Gubelmann) relationship is still strong.

The couple got together for the first time in The Good Doctor Season 4.

Audiences can't help but wonder if Park and Morgan will end up down the aisle.

After all, if Shaun and Lea's wedding won't push through this season, all the hype regarding an upcoming nuptial may be between Park and Morgan.

What is the plot for The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 2?

ABC just dropped the synopsis for The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 2, titled Piece of Cake. However, the title doesn't seem to match the events that will take place in the upcoming installment.

"Dr. Shaun Murphy and the team race to save a pregnant woman's baby and find her current situation as a convicted felon complicates it even more than they realize. Meanwhile, the hospital takes on some unexpected changes that the staff is not prepared for on The Good Doctor," the synopsis reads.

By the looks of it, the unexpected changes that will take place at St. Bonaventure would have to do with Salen joining the hospital. And dealing with these changes won't be a piece of cake!

When will The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 2 air?

The Good Doctor Season 5 Episode 2 will air on Monday, Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

As of late, it's still unclear how many episodes The Good Doctor Season 5 will have. However, the imminent installment may be somewhere between 18 and 20 episodes.

If this is the case, fans can expect to watch the finale episode for The Good Doctor Season 5 sometime in the fall of 2022.

The 28-second clip opens with Salen hosting a meeting with the doctors from St. Bonaventure.

Salen drops a statement that will seemingly not sit well with the physicians.

"We do not treat patients; we serve clients," Salen said.

After the meeting, Salen gets into a discussion with Shaun. At this moment, the new owner of St. Bonaventure will realize that Shaun is on the Autism Spectrum.

Elsewhere in the teaser, Lea comforts Shaun, who is visibly upset. Lea also reminds Shaun that change can sometimes be tricky.

Shaun also has a serious conversation with Glassman about moving on. The latter tells Shaun that he needs to be around different people. The word "different" seems to be touchy for Shaun.

"Different from me?" he asks Glassman.

If you have not yet watched Good Doctor Season 1 to 4, it's best to start from the beginning before jumping to season 5. This way, you can familiarize yourself first with all the characters from the series.

Amazon Prime is offering all four seasons for Good Doctor. However, subscribers need to purchase each episode in HD for $2.99. And entire season costs $9.99, which is a much better deal if you wish to stream all four seasons.

The Good Doctor is also available to stream on Hulu. And even the upcoming episodes from season 5 will be available to stream on the platform one day after its Monday airdate.
