The Gods Assemble in New Poster for American Gods 2

Though there was trouble reported on the set of American Gods 2 last month, it seems that Starz is pushing forward with the marketing, and has released a new poster to prep for the show coming to New York Comic-Con.

Check it out:

The poster includes most of the principal cast but is missing Gillian Anderson who has quit the role of Media after the departure of original showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. Now the role of New Media is being overtaken by Kahyun Kim. In the original book, Media didn't even have a face, he/she would just communicate to Shadow via whoever was on the screen that he was looking at.

For now, news has come out that new showrunner Jesse Alexander has also been ‘exiled' from the show It's been said that he's been banned from the editing room and production, but is still attached as producer. Most of the friction is said to have come from a disagreement between Starz and Fremantle, and it's also said that Neil Gaiman is trying to assert more control over the show as well.

If anything, the show is said to be struggling to come back to the original source material. If you've read the book, you'll know that characters like Mad Sweeney and the Jinn have been given expanded roles as we follow them on their own adventures. The god Vulcan didn't even appear in the books and was crafted purely for television.

For now, we don't know the exact future of American Gods, but hopefully, Starz will finish the whole arc of Shadow before they decide to cut anything off.

American Gods 2 is coming out sometime in 2019.
