Daisy Ridley has been offiically voted the Movie Breakout Star, for her breakthrough performance as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, at this year's Teen's Choice Awards in Los Angeles Sunday evening.

"Oh my God, this is so scary. There's so many people," Daisy said, as she received her award at the star-studded event

"It feels incredible to be in this category with amazing people, especially my boy John."

Ridley added: "And after all the incredible people we just saw on stage, it feels especially important to be part of a film that represents diversity in such a positive way.

"Thank you for creating this character and everyone for letting me be Rey."

The 24-year-old British actress, who shot to fame in the movie, beat John Boyega, her British co-star in The Force Awakens.

This award has been won by similar actors and actresses prior to Daisy Ridley's nomination. Previously the allocade has been won by Cara Delvingne (Paper Towns) and Ansel Elgort (Divergent & Fault In The Stars).

I can't wait to see her in Star Wars: Episode VIII, when it comes out in theaters on December 15, 2017.
