The new DC Universe isn't going to be officially launched until 2025 but this year is undoubtedly monumental for the franchise. In case you haven't heard yet, the upcoming standalone The Flash film starring Ezra Miller is confirmed to be hitting the reset button on the then-DCEU.

The film has undergone several revisions over the last couple of months and now that James Gunn and Peter Safran are in charge, it appears that the film has once again undergone some serious alterations to fit the new DCU's narrative.

According to tipster Grace Randolph, Gunn made drastic changes to the film's ending. If the initial rumors are to be believed, The Flash would have ended with Barry Allen returning to his own timeline but the ramifications of his multiverse trip have already taken effect with Michael Keaton's Batman and Sasha Calle's Supergirl now part of his universe.

Now, the DC Studios co-CEO has reportedly ordered to have the characters removed from the ending and as it stands, The Flash will feature a brand new finish with a cameo from a different character.

In a separate tweet, The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez pretty much confirmed the report but of course, it's still best to take it with a huge grain of salt.

Obviously, Gunn and Safran are adamant about resetting the DC Universe, and given how The Flash plays a huge part in the upcoming shake-up, it makes logical sense for them to do some last-minute polishing. Now, whether or not this confirms that Ezra will in fact remain as the franchise's Fastest Man Alive remains to be seen but if you've been following the news, it seems like the controversial actor could be given a second chance despite his personal troubles.

DC's The Flash is scheduled for theatrical release on June 16, 2023.
