The Flash: Was This the Original Synopsis for the Flashpoint Movie?

Before Andy Muschietti (IT) was attached to direct The Flash film, the movie was called Flashpoint with Spider-Man: Homecoming writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley set to direct. We don't have any idea what they were originally planning for their movie, but the synopsis may have leaked online.

As per Flash Film Updates, Production Weekly had accidentally published a synopsis for Goldstein and Daley's planned Flashpoint film. Check it out:

"The storyline sees Barry Allen/The Flash travel back in time to avert the murder of his mother. However, when he returns to the present, his mother is still alive but the world is a nightmare, the Justice League doesn't exist, and Barry must do everything he can to set things right… or as close to right as possible."

It basically lifts off of the main premise of The Flashpoint Paradox, but I can imagine that this version would have been simplified to allow Barry Allen to shine on his own. We don't know how much of the story would make its way to Muschietti's version, but I think there's a lot of good material there.

Personally, I think they should have saved the Flashpoint premise for a Justice League movie because I'd prefer the film going a grand scale. Besides, it's kind of derivative to just have the League go up against DC's Thanos, Darkseid.

We don't know what The Flash is going to end up as, but hopefully we get an official synopsis before the year ends.

Catch The Flash when it finally hits theaters July 1, 2022.
