The Flash: New Study Reveals How Ezra Miller's Controversies Could Affect the Box Office

The Flash star Ezra Miller has been involved in numerous controversies in the past several months. As a result, there have been questions about whether it will affect the release of the film next year. So far, the studio remains committed to releasing the film and Miller has also released an apology and announced that they will seek treatment for their issues.

However, a recent study conducted by Morning Consult revealed what the public actually thinks about Miller's controversies and whether The Flash should still get released. According to the results, 2 in 5 U.S. adults think that Warner Bros. should cancel the film entirely due to the actor's issues while a third believe that Warner Bros. should reshoot it with a different actor.

In addition, 2 in 5 frequent moviegoers believe that a film should not be released if the main star is involved in controversies although 4 in 5 Americans haven't heard much regarding the controversies that Miller is involved and 64% of them still plan to see the film whether in theaters or streaming.

It is also revealed that Gen Z adults are the ones that are mostly aware of Miller's controversies due to the news that is being shared on TikTok.

In terms of how the studio should handle a film with an actor that is accused of a wide range of misconduct, 72% of them will support if they are cutting ties with the actor, 70% said they will support it if they remove the actor from the advertisements for the film, and 61% said they'll support if the studio will remove the actor's credits from the film.

Based on the results of the study, it looks like there is considerable support from the public regarding the possibility of either canceling the film entirely or removing Miller from the film. Since the release is still less than a year away, the studio has more time to weigh their options on how they are going to handle the release and publicity of the film now that we have some idea on the public's perception regarding it.
