After months filled with intrigue, James Gunn and Peter Safran have finally made a decision regarding Ezra Miller's future in the DC Universe. During their presentation of the franchise's future film and streaming slate, the DC Studios duo made it clear that the actor, who's been involved in numerous scandals over the last couple of years could remain in the DCU and they have a valid reason for reconsidering despite the outcry from fans to have him ousted.

According to Safran (via Deadline), the controversial star is committed to their recovery and they've decided to leave the door wide open for him to return to the franchise once he's finished with rehab. Safran said: "Ezra is completely committed to their recovery. We’re fully supportive of that journey that they’re on right now."

He added: "When the time is right, when they feel they are ready to have the discussion, we’ll all figure out what the best way forward is. But right now, they are completely focused on their recovery."

Safran also revealed that Miller is in better shape and disposition the last couple of months. "And in our conversations with them over the last couple of months, it feels like they’re making enormous progress."

During the presentation, Gunn also praised The Flash, confidently claiming that it's one of the best superhero films ever made. Now, whether that was also the catalyst for their decision remains unclear but it looks like Miller will be sticking around in the new DCU.

DC's The Flash is scheduled for theatrical release on June 16, 2023.
