The Flash is one of DC's most iconic characters, often being referenced and starring in a number of television shows, animated programs, and movies. Unsurprisingly, the Scarlet Speedster has had quite the comic book career and is responsible for a lot of big events, including having the most famous death in Crisis on Infinite Earths and rebooting the DC universe in Flashpoint. Now, DC Comics has announced The Flash #750 and it will be a massive celebration for comic's most famous runner.
DC Comics announced the details of this historic issue, confirming that current Flash writer Joshua Williamson will start a new arc called The Flash Age, with artists Rafa Sandoval and Jordi Tarragona. It will apparently build off the seeds that have been planted since The Flash #50 (the Rebirth run, not the original 50th issue) and should be a memorable arc.
Like Wonder Woman #750, Detective Comics #1000, and Action Comics #1000, The Flash #750 will be an 80-page giant and is going to have a number of short stories from a variety of writers and artists. There will also be a number of variant covers to celebrate the decades that The Flash has been an active superhero.
Here are the variant covers coming and the artists who will illustrate them:
- 1940s variant cover by Nicola Scott
- 1950s variant cover by Gary Frank
- 1960s variant cover by Nick Derington
- 1970s variant cover by José Luis García-López
- 1980s variant cover by Gabriele Dell'Otto
- 1990s variant cover by Francesco Mattina
- 2000s variant cover by Jim Lee and Scott Williams
- 2010s variant cover by Francis Manapul
I'm a pretty big fan of DC's anniversary issues, so this should be a treat. As someone who considers himself a casual fan of The Flash who did religiously watch CW's The Flash for its first season, I'll probably give this big issue a shot.
The Flash #750 comes out in February 2020.
