The year 2022 was supposed to be a big year for DC as they were planning to release five films as teased in a promo reel that they released a few weeks ago. But now, it looks like things are changing as Warner Bros. has announced a huge shift on the release date of its DC slate. We previously learned that Black Adam and DC's League of Super-Pets will be delayed for a few more months. Now, it's going to be the case as well for the other upcoming DC films.

Deadline reported that Warner Bros. has also announced the new release dates for The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The Flash, which has already been delayed several times, is moving its release date again from November this year to June 23, 2023 making it a summer release next year. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is moving from this year's holiday season to March 17, 2023 which will be almost a year from now.

However, fortunately, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is moving up its release date from June 2023 to December 16, 2022 where it will take over Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's previous slot and making it the fourth and final theatrical DC film that will be released this year. Its new release date also comes just two months after the release of Black Adam.

It is unfortunate to hear that The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are moving to next year since there's been a lot of anticipation for them. However, Deadline's report indicated that the reason behind the delays is because both films are VFX heavy and they need more post-production time to finish them while Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which wrapped filming several months ago, will be ready by the end of the year so they were able to move it ahead and make our waiting time for the sequel lesser now.

With the COVID-19 pandemic happening, we've been hearing a lot of release date changes for numerous films so it is not surprising to hear news like this and it is understandable that such decisions were made given that these films require a lot of VFX work. Since Shazam! Fury of the Gods has moved to December 16 this year, it means that it will be released against Avatar 2 and it is going to be interesting to see how it will perform box office-wise.
