The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is about to premiere in a few days and much to the thrill the fans of Marvel have seeing the shield of Captain America once again, the actor playing The Falcon, Anthony Mackie, says that the shield of Captain America is a "major burden."

The now-retired Steve Rogers passed the shield to Sam Wilson in the Avengers: Endgame after Steve decided to live his life the second time around when he took the responsibility of bringing back the infinity stones to the timeline where they came from. Steve finally got the chance to go to the dance he promised his love, Peggy Carter, and went to live on becoming a happy old man.

In a recent interview of The New York Times with Anthony Mackie, he revealed that whenever his character, Sam Wilson, carries the shield, it gives him an incredible burden every time he wields it. He doesn't feel that it is an opportunity like a promotion at work, he says it is a major burden on him.

Mackie added that the shield represents Captain America who represents America itself, as a land of freedom, choice, and power. It's a heavy thing to put on his shoulder that kind of representation and responsibility. Sam Wilson has always been on the sidelines and overlooked ever since he appeared in the MCU and Mackie admits that the character is used to being there, not in the spotlight.

It could be remembered that in the scene where Steve gave the shield and asked Sam how he felt, he responded "like it's someone else's." It's indicative that Sam feels like the shield is not his at all despite being given it to and Sam never expressly stated that he accepts the shield.

Anthony Mackie is, still, stoked that the series is finally happening. He also shared that when he was called on set, he put on a suit thinking they would be doing another Marvel film but much to his surprise, he was informed that it would be a TV series.

Given that Anthony Mackie is the perfect person to play the role of The Falcon as revealed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige that he didn't audition anymore to get the role before, it would sure be a blast with him and he'll surely deliver in the canon series of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier premieres on March 19, 2021, on Disney+.
