We already know that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will only have six episodes. However, fans have been hoping that each of those episodes will be more than an hour long. Unfortunately, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige says that isn't the case.
Anthony Mackie had previously teased that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be like an eight-hour movie as it follows Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes on a new mission. Not surprisingly, fans are loving the idea of an extended Sam and Bucky film. However, Feige just revealed to SciFiNow+ that the runtime won't be that long.
"Not quite eight hours, but yes. It all comes down to the storytelling. I guess the short answer is we don't distinguish it too much," said Feige. "The bar is set high for the features and for the series, and we try to exceed that bar every time."
This might be disappointing news for fans who were expecting the eight-hour movie that Mackie had previously teased. However, Feige also pointed out that the weekly episode release gives Marvel the chance to slowly reveal the story, as they did with WandaVision.
"We're building the shows to be experienced that way, the way we build our features to be experienced in a run, and sometimes they have tags that hint at the future," he said.
The weekly episode release certainly worked for WandaVision considering that almost each episode concluded on a cliffhanger that had fans begging for the next one to be released. There is little doubt that we'll be seeing that again with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but hopefully, each episode will be a lot longer.
There is a huge chance that one of the episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be much longer than the rest. Some believe it could be the series finale where Sam will ultimately be declared as the new Captain America.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier also stars Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, and Daniel Bruhl. The series will premiere on Disney+ on March 19.
